Fader 5 FAQ

Do you write themes and songs?

Yes! That's what we do best.
We have written theme songs for television series, films, web-based businesses and corporate industrials. In addition, we have written instrumental themes for TV and film as well. Ask for our music sampler and references. If you like, we also offer mock-ups by request.

How do I report music usage (needle drop clients only)?

If you are a needle drop customer and you would like to, you can report usage on line by sending us an email at licensing@fader5.com. If you already have a system in place for reporting, please make our customer service department aware of your preferred procedure. We can provide you with cue sheets upon request.

What about performance licensing from ASCAP and BMI (PRA)?

Broadcasters are responsible to maintain valid performing rights licenses with ASCAP or BMI in the US or with other performing rights societies in other countries. Broadcasters are also responsible to pass the cue sheet information on to ASCAP & BMI for each production. Broadcasters without valid licenses require a direct performance license. Productions created for broadcast (commercials, programming, films etc.) should always contain a complete cue sheet list of music used, listed by: Composer or arranger, Composer or arranger's PRA, Publisher, Publisher's PRA, CD volume number and track number and Music library distributor and length of time used and how it was used.

What are cue sheets?

If you have included a track from our library in your production and you are preparing your production to be broadcast on television (Network, Cable, Public) then a cue sheet must be submitted to ASCAP, SESAC, BMI or your local performance rights organization. You must provide us with a copy of the cue sheet within thirty days of each performance.

If you are including tracks from our library in your film or video, a cue sheet must be filed whenever the film is broadcast on TV.

Important!: Creating a cue sheet for your productions does not cost you, the producer any money! It simply makes the broadcaster aware of the musical content legal information so that they can notify the correct PRA of the performance. Music composers and publishers receive income from public/broadcast performance of their music.

What about TV commercials?

You may use the music in a television commercial with broadcast rights up to 300 miles from your location. For extended markets or national coverage, you must arrange for a separate license.
